In the winter of 1929, a group of 37 men and women began an adventure together as they organized the Barbers Hill Baptist Church.  Finding themselves in a rowdy oil-field setting, the church members began meeting in a dance hall for worship.  Using boards laid across nail kegs and saw horses, the church members set up church and journeyed together to know God deeply and follow Him fully.

Since then, there have been many changes for the church.  Three buildings and fifteen pastors later, the church is called First Baptist Church of Mont Belvieu.  Now located between Barbers Hill High School and Middle School, we are proud members of a community built on strong values of tradition, excellence, and faith.  More than seventy-five years after its birth, First Baptist Church continues to attract people to the adventure of loving and living boldly for God.
