Matthew Watkins has been married to his wife, Tiffany, for 32 years, and they are blessed with 7 children and 13 grandchildren. Saved in 1997 and called to ministry in 2003, Matthew earned a Bachelor of Christian Studies from Luther Rice University and a Degree in Divinity from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary. He and Tiffany travelled to the mission field of the Amazon jungle of Ecuador, planting churches among unreached peoples. In April 2025, Matthew joined First Baptist Church Mexico Beach, where he now serves and shepherds this great body of Christ.
He is passionate about preaching the Word, leading the Church to live out all that God has created them to be in Christ. He loves to play golf and spend time at the beach with Tiffany.
First Baptist Church Mexico Beach exists to proclaim Jesus Christ to our coastal community and visitors — so every person encounters the gospel, is drawn into discipleship, and is equipped to follow Him faithfully.
We will strengthen families and raise young people through intentional biblical teaching, mentorship, and spiritual formation. From Mexico Beach, we will also send our church outward—beyond our shores—through strategic outreach and missions that carry Christ’s hope to the wider world.
We’re a church that reaches the coast—locals and visitors—with the gospel, builds disciples and strong families, and then sends hope beyond Mexico Beach through mission and outreach.
Every service is an opportunity to encounter God, grow in community, and be refreshed like the tide that meets the shore.
